Bundeskanzlei

12 Open for talks In 1934 Emanuel von Wattenwyl bequeathed the patrician house at Junkerngasse 59 to the Swiss Confederation in the name of his wife Beatrice, who died in 1929. Since then the house has been used by the Federal Council to receive guests. Some of the Federal Council’s special sessions are held here, as are the talks held between the political parties represented in the Federal Council prior to each session of the Federal Assembly, known as the ‘von-Wattenwyl discussions’.
